MARIA BC ROF (RACHIKA NAYAR REMIX)

Musicians Maria BC and Rachika Nayar team up once more for a remix of Maria's 'ROF' ahead of an EP of remixes of their Hyaline album. It has a been busy year for the artists, both releasing incredibly beautiful albums that are innovative in their own rights, Maria's delicately haunting Hyaline and Rachika's ethereal Heaven Come Crashing (which featured vocals from Maria BC). On the remix Nayar brings her unique spectral guitar textures, submerging it in shimmering layers of reverb and drones that gently swell and rising and falling like a tide. “Every time I hear the final lines of ROF, they transport me to two parts of my life: one deals with childhood and shame; the other is a memory of driving up the California coast, mountains on the horizon, when I felt a golden sense of future opening in my life,” Nayar shared in a statement. “It feels as if the song, in invoking both, metabolizes the past into possibility, and it’s that metabolism that I hoped to delve into with this remix—a metabolism that I think this record opens up for all of us.” -Toby Evans-Jesra
